Last week, Yahoo announced that they were now
testing Bing’s search data, combining forces to provide the same search results in their index. This will only affect organic search results for the time being, leaving all local business results, real time results, and new results unaffected.
In the coming months, Yahoo will be integrating Microsoft’s mobile organic and paid search listings throughout the United States and Canada. Microsoft Bing will eventually deploy all organic and paid search listings for Yahoo mobile users.

Once Yahoo and Bing completely merge their search results, we'll only have two primary search engines delivering high search numbers. My point is... don't sleep on YaBing, because you could be missing out on great traffic, business, and ultimately $$$.

Ultimately, Bing will provide search results to all Yahoo platforms. Late last week, Bing and Yahoo released more details about the integration. My advice is - prepare your Bing search marketing campaign, as Yahoo will be no more in the near future.

I gather searches on Yahoo will generate listing results from Bing, but are you really saying that Yahoo provided Bing with new Yahoo algorithms and that although Bing does the ranking work for both orgaizationse the algorithms used are Yahoo's ?

This is right that bing and yahoo share their search results but i think that every search engine have their own algorithm. Some times yahoo and bing search results are clashed to each other so this is commam. When we start work in SEO for improving the ranking of a site then search engines are the major part.
great another headache
Think its dumb ... dont like the idea, dont like M$. Hope they fall on their faces for adding another pain in peoples backsides in the tech world. Say why bother, having to relearn a binghoo or vice versa ... concentrate on google ... which is god in SEland. They arent expecting everyone to have to go through a bunch of trouble migrating anywhere, or relearning anything. They keep the lions share of search anyway, so if M$ ... decides to press a stupid powerplay like this, I say forget them.
They are world renown for making buggy software regardless ... so using yahoo's algo's and directories/indexes would make more sense than the other way around. Adding twitter and facebook search returns ? WHY ? When I search for something I dont want 5 gazillion social network utterances, that probably arent even relevant to my subject of interest.
That sounds like more of a specialty search engine or algo, if someone wants that, they can have it built. Think its all around a stupid move, M$'s idea of innovation, is to try to copy anything someone else comes out with ... think yahoo is risking alienating their user base and advertisers. Whereas M$ is just being its normal aggravating self. lol ... I have a new marketing slogan for them ... bing ... its not a decision engine ... its a copy-machine !!! ooo ooo oooo, or how about binghooo .... best search engine for finding headaches !!! .... that's catchy.
